Mr. Ashwani Kachroo
Principal Incharge
Mr. Ashwani Kachroo Head of Department, MTM, B.Sc. - Electronics, DHM. He holds Masters Degree in Tourism Management (IGNOU) and Bachelor of Science degree from Kashmir University. He is an alumunus of IHM Pusa / Srinagar.
He has worked in the industry (F&B Service) for almost a decade wherein he gained rich experience by working for reputed organisations like Hyatt Regency, Sofitel Surya & Le Meridian Hotel. His foreign assignments include working at Hotel Savoy’s (Restaurant Palms) Moscow.
He has a teaching experience of more than two decades and has a core competency in teaching subjects like F&B Service, F&B Control and F&B Management. During his tenure in this college he has worked on various additional responsibility portfolios like Academic Incharge, Cultural Incharge, Training Incharge, Placement Incharge, Hostel warden, Co-ordinator Hunnar se Rozgar, etc. He has introduced college magazine “Le Bouquet Garni” in this college and has served as an editor for almost fifteen years for .the same.
He was a proud recipient of “Best Teacher Award”, Securing second position among ten teachers who were chosen for the honour in the National award for Excellence in Hospitality Education (2012-2013).
Mr. Kachroo, is also a keen sports person. His hobbies include listening to music specially gazals, instrumental, soft music, etc. and writing on food and beverage topics.
Mr. Kachroo has written two books, one on Beverages and another on Food & Beverage Controls. Many of his articles have found place in Indian trade magazines. He is a keen researcher and has published and presented good number of research papers and articles.

Mr Sohan Lal Sr. Lecturer D.H.M.C.T, B.A Food Production
Mr. Sohan Lal an alumnus of IHM Gurdaspur of its second batch in the year 1995-98 is in charge of
the Food Production Department and is the Chef Instructor for Advanced Training Kitchen. He has 9
years of industry experience in hotel groups like Radisson and Park Plaza. Mr. Sohan Lal specializes in
Indian Cuisine and also enjoys working in the Chinese section of the kitchen. A native of Himachal
Pradesh he is an ardent nature lover and he is loved by everyone for his ever smiling & ever
approachable demeanour. He can create melodious tunes with his flute. He is responsible for the
Mess operations; inter college competitions and alumni association of the institute.

Mr. Dilraj Singh, who is renowned for his expertise and excellent moral character, enjoys reading a lot. His interests are primarily on philosophy and spirituality. In his free time, he enjoys viewing English films. He has participated actively in a number of events. In addition, he oversees the Institute's research division and has so far written a number of research publications. He has experience of teaching Food production, Food and Beverage service and front office.

Mr. Rewati Raman Chaubey
Sr. Lecturer
Mr. R R Chaubey joined IHM Gurdaspur in year 2010 as a lecturer. He has rich industry experience of
Food and Beverage Sector with specialisation in Beverages. He is admired by his students and his
peers alike for his mastery over the art of Mixology. After graduating from IHM Patna in the year
2001, he started his career journey as a Bartender from TGIF. In year 2005 he joined Shangri-la
Hotel, New Delhi and subsequently Galaxy Hotel, Gurgaon. His industry exposure involves hands-on
experience of almost all positions of different sections in F & B Department. Mr. Chaubey is a keen
sportsman and likes to coordinate cultural activities, an ability which he successfully uses in his role
as Mentor of the Student Activity Cell at the institute. He holds the position of Academic co-
ordinator at the institute. Other than his core specialisation of F&B Service he also teaches Hotel
Engineering & Facility Planning.
Mrs. Dimple
Sr. Lecturer
Ms. Dimple holds BSc in H & HA From IHM Gurdaspur . She started her career in housekeeping
department from Welcome Group of Hotels. She has 11 years of experience in academics including
initial 3 years at Chitkara University before joining IHM Gurdaspur on roll in year 2010. Ms. Dimple
has enormous experience in planning, conducting & mentoring various cultural events & activities at
the institute. She currently serves as General Secretary of the student Activity Cell where her wealth
of experience in handling student activities is a guiding force in smooth conduct of activities. She
handles housekeeping operations of the institute and is also the Warden for Girls’ hostel. Ms. Dimple
relaxes by listening to folk and popular music.
Mr. Bhupinder Singh

Mr. Bhupinder Singh-Lecturer,
Bachelor in Hotel Management, Post Graduate(regular) in Marketing-sales & M.Sc.in Hotel Management.
Mr. Bhupinder Singh completed his 4 years B.H.M degree in first class from Mangalore university followed by a two years regular post graduate diploma in ‘Business Administration (Marketing & Human resources)’ with ‘A’ grade from Graduate School of Business Administration, Noida. He further completed M.Sc. in Hotel management from Anamalai University.
He has been working with this institute since August 2008 & has been selected for Management Development Program for faculties of Govt. Hospitality Institutes sponsored by Ministry of Tourism Govt. of India for a study tour visit to Spain (Madrid – Barcelona) & Italy (Rome) in the Year 2019-2020.
He has been teaching Front Office Operations and Communication besides F&B Management, F&B Controls and Food safety quality etc.He holds the position of Department In charge –Computers &Industrial training Coordinator. He has being Chief Editor of college magazine ‘Le Boquet Garni’ which has both English & Hindi Section, currently he is the Mentor for the same.
He has more than 5 year exposure in the domain of ‘Corporate Sales-Hotels’ in the Hotel industry at prestigious properties like Ram Bagh Palace Hotel By Taj Hotels at Jaipur besides Radisson Windsor by Carlson Hotels, Jalandhar, ITC Fortune Park classic-Ludhiana by ITC Welcome Hotels and Corporate head office of New Age Hotels & Resorts Ltd. New Delhi.
Apart from Singing, he likes to read, write & sketch, make caricatures and oil painting. He is instrumental in developing digital content, the website for IHM and also he is an eloquent & avid public speaker.
Mrs. Harmanpreet
Lecturer
Mrs. Harmanpreet , completed 3 year B.Sc in H& HA from Institute of Hotel Management Gurdaspur
in year 2003. She stepped in hotel industry as a Kitchen professional in Hotel Intercontinental ‘The
Grand’ (Hotel Lalit), New Delhi. In the year 2006 she got an opportunity to serve abroad and she
worked in UK for around 1½ year. She has been working at IHM Gurdaspur as an Asst. Lecturer since
the beginning of year 2010. She likes reading fiction novels and spiritual books and also likes to
preach spirituality and moral values .Her academic inclination is an asset for the organisation as she
has been teaching many subjects like accommodation operations, Food science, Nutrition and
Bakery. Currently, she teaches Regional Indian Cuisine in 3rd and 4th semester. She is, also, taking
care of Lunch services and student dining hall.
Mr. Saurabh Kataria
Lecturer
Mr Saurabh Kataria graduated from IHM Jaipur in the year 2007. He has been a part of teaching
fraternity from last twelve years that includes his teaching assignments at IHM Gurdaspur and IHM
Jaipur before joining IHM Gurdaspur again in the year 2015 as an Assistant Lecturer. Mr Kataria
possesses scholarly aptitude; a UGC-NET qualified educator in Management, an MBA in HR, he is
also a keen researcher and writer besides being a Certified Hospitality Trainer. Mr Kataria is a keen
sportsman and his multifaceted talent have been an advantage to the organization. He is the
founder member and the man behind the hugely successful year long competitive event at the
institute Gurdaspur Annual Meet of Events – GAME. A philosopher by nature, who sings and whistles
the all-time hits; he is one of those who are life of social gatherings.
Mr.Amar Dev Singh

Mr. Amar Dev Singh joined IHM, Gurdaspur as a Lecturer in the year 2019. He has done Master’s in Hotel Management from Uttarakhand Open University and graduated from IHM, Trivandrum in the Year 2008. Mr. Singh has cleared UGC-NET in the year 2023. He has two years of Industry experience as a Hotel Operation Management Training (Food Production) from Taj group of Hotel. He has been part of teaching fraternity from last ten years which includes his last assignment as an Assistant Lecturer in IHM, Shimla. Mr. Singh is known for his Professionalism and high integrity towards his work. He has been active members of various events and activities. He is a Certified Learning Facilitator from NCHMCT, Noida.
Mr. Harman Singh
Assistant Lecturer
Mr. Harman Singh is an alumnus of IHM Gurdaspur. He passed out in 2011, he has 2 years of
Industrial Experience with TAJSATS Air Catering Limited, New Delhi. He started his career with
TAJSATS as a Management Trainee & got promoted as Senior Chef De Partie. He got appointed on
rolls with IHM Gurdaspur in May 2015. Apart from his mastery in the craft of Bakery, he enjoys
interacting with people and is adept at the art of photography. He is also the man responsible for
bringing out the half yearly college News letter of IHM Gurdaspur.
Mr. Amritesh kumar
Assistant Lecturer
Mr. Amritesh holds Bsc. In H & HA from Institute of Hotel Management , Bhopal. He has worked for
Mcdonalds , India for two before he found his true calling in academics. He completed Certified
Hospitality Trainer’s Programme from IHM ,Gurdaspur & joined here as a Teaching Associate on
contract in Year 2011. He is now on roll from November 2015 as Assistant Lecturer. He has been an
active member of cultural committee & communication club of the college .He is a singer at heart
and is fond of interacting with people. Mr. Amritesh has good foresight and managerial skills which
makes him an asset for the organisation in conduct of various cultural and extra-curricular activities
at the institute. He has also been teaching Hotel Engineering and Food Production.
Mr. Saral Chatterjee
Assistant Lecturer
Mr Saral Chatterjee, an alumnus of IHM Bhubaneswar. He has more than 07 years of combined
experience in Industry and Teaching in Front Office. He is a NHTET qualified faculty and has
completed Masters in Tourism & Travel Management from IGNOU, and Masters of Science in
Hospitality Administration (Sales & Marketing) from NCHM- IH, Noida. Prior to his current
assignment with IHM Gurdaspur, Mr. Chatterjee was a founding and pre-opening faculty member for
State IHM Durgapur. He is a keen researcher and has national as well as international publications. He is a Certified Learning Facilitator from NCHMCT
He enjoys bike riding and reading Self-Help as well as Spiritual books to unwind. An active fitness
enthusiast, he can often be spotted in the gym or in the playground.
Mr. Thennarasu

Chef M. Thennarasu was born in Andaman &Nicobar Islands but basically he is from village in
Aruppukottai village, after his Schooling from Andaman & Nicobar Islands , he completed his
bachelor degree in the field of BSc(H&HA) in Institute of Hotel Management Chennai (Batch 2011-
2014). He also completed his Pg in the field of MSc in same college. He started his career in IHM as a
contract faculty and worked for 5years and 10 months. During his work experience he gave 100%
commitment to transfer knowledge to students and worked hard for enriching student’s career.
During his off and free time, he initiated his presence in SICA competition, and won many medals
and pride for the college. Followed that his passion and skills enriched him to upgrade his career as
an Assistant lecturer in IHM Gurdaspur, Punjab handling bakery batch.
Mr.Gowrishankar
Assistant Lecturer
Chef.S.Gowrishankar was born in 1983 in Trichy, the central part of Tamilnadu. He did his schooling
in Trichy. Out of his passion towards culinary field, leaving his Engineering degree, he joined Hotel
Management in 2003. Chef completed his Bachelor Degree in Tourism and Hotel Management in
2006 and MBA in Tourism and Hotel Management recently. He started his career in Food & Beverage
Department at the Mass Hotel, Puducherry and continued to work as a Restaurant Supervisor till
2008.Out of his interest in teaching , in his offs and free time he was handling F&B theory and
practical classes for the MIHM degree and craft students. After his marriage, in 2008 July, he joined
Institute of Hotel Management,Chennai as a contract faculty and handled F&B classes for the B.Sc
students. From 2011onwards he worked as a teaching associate and was given Craft kitchen to
handle the food production classes for craft students. From then his journey with the kitchen started
and now he is a well known chef among the students community and also in the industry. And from
2013 Chef was incharge for 1 1⁄2 year Diploma in Food Production students in IHM Chennai. He was
twice in the team from IHM Chennai to Malaysia and Singapore to conduct a Tamil food festival
named “Pongu Tamil” & demonstrated authentic Tamil regional cuisine to audience. He was a Chef
performer in “Makkal TV” for promoting cookwares & demonstrated food preparations. Chefs
recipes were twice published in “Aval Kitchen” a monthly magazine. He has authored several books
for the National Instructional Media Institute. As a member of South India Chef Association ,
representing IHM Chennai, he participated at the 5th edition of SICA culinary challenge 2018 and
bagged 2 awards - “1 gold for plated appetisers and 1 bronze for live western cooking”. Admiringly
Chef. Gowrishankar is one amongst the 6 chefs who has presented his recipes of Kongunadu region
for this 4th edition of Arusuvai Book an yearly recipe book presented by IHM,Chennai. At present
chef is working as an Assistant lecturer with IHM, Gurdaspur, Punjab handling the Diploma in Food
Production Batch.
Mr. Lalit Singh Rawat
Assistant Lecturer
Mr Lalit Singh Rawat graduated from IHM Jaipur in the year 2011. Mr Rawat has a management
experience of more than a decade with Taj Group of Hotels in multiple properties and Reliance
Retails as Store Manager. His rich expertise in hotels and retail industry adds multiple dimensions to
the team. He is pursuing Masters in Travel and Tourism from IGNOU. Mr Rawat is a keen sportsman
and his multifaceted talent makes him an eminent name in Sports, Cultural Events and Social
Welfare. He is an active member of the hugely successful year long competitive event at the institute
Gurdaspur Annual Meet of Events – GAME. A person loved by all due to his lively nature. He takes
care of the Food & Beverage Service alongside other additional duties.
